The village of Imerovigli is one of the most outstanding in Santorini. It lies at the highest end of the Caldera rim (300 meters high).

Near the hotel, it is worth visiting the castle of Skaros. According to history when the Venetian leader, Markos Sanouthos, conquered the island, in 1207, raised the flag on the castle. It was then that the island of Thira took the name of Santorini.
This castle had to oversee the western entrance of the island to defend it against pirate attacks. The castle was divided into two parts, one called Rocka and the other where Roman nobles and Catholic bishops had their manors.
The castle of Skaros was never conquered during its 600 years of existence.

Thanks to the proximity of Imerovigli to Fira, just 2 km, it is worth walking along the scenic path that leads to the island's capital and offers an amazing view of the bay, the volcano and the islands of the archipelago.
